Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities for a manufacturing organization, with a strong emphasis on cost accounting, inventory accuracy, and operational partnership. This role ensures timely and accurate financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, and partners closely with plant leadership and operations to drive financial performance and scalability.

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for manufacturing operations
• Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements
• Analyze manufacturing variances (PPV, labor, overhead absorption) and communicate insights to leadership
• Own standard costing, BOMs, routings, and inventory valuation
• Oversee inventory accounting, cycle counts, and physical inventories
• Ensure accurate treatment of WIP, finished goods, scrap, and obsolescence
• Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to improve cost visibility and margins

• Act as a finance partner to plant managers and operations leadership
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational KPIs (labor efficiency, yield, throughput)
• Provide financial analysis to support capital expenditures and capacity planning

• Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and revenue recognition
• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Ensure accurate capitalization and depreciation of manufacturing assets

• Manage external audits, reviews, and tax engagements
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
• Support cost and inventory-related audit requests and documentation

• Own ERP and manufacturing accounting systems (Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Epicor, etc.)
• Drive process improvements across inventory, costing, and close
• Support ERP implementations, upgrades, or integrations

• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and cost accounting team
• Build scalable processes and team structure to support growth

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing exposure
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory, and manufacturing finance
• Experience partnering with plant and operations leadership

• Public accounting background with manufacturing clients
• Experience in multi-plant or multi-location manufacturing environments
• PE-backed or growth-oriented manufacturing company experience
