Handling multi‑state sales/use tax recovery projects for large, sophisticated organizations takes more than just a technical understanding of current sales and use tax rules. In this role you will be part of EY’s Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review Center of Excellence (COE), building and applying your knowledge on a wide range of projects for clients in multiple industries. You will receive the support of engaging colleagues, mentors, and training programs to progress your career.

You will be involved in a diverse array of projects, responsibilities and tasks. Your clients will rely on you for up‑to‑the‑minute tax advice. You will work in a highly collaborative culture, listening to and sharing information with colleagues.

• Researching our clients’ business operations and building long‑lasting relationships with them
• Identifying applicable sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions
• Identifying potential over payment opportunities or risks and communicating these to our clients
• Monitoring current tax law changes to maintain your credibility as a trusted advisor
• Developing clear, intelligent plans and approaches for sales and use tax recoveries
• Preparing and defending sales and use tax refund claims
• Participating on a motivated team of professionals
• Supervising a motivated team of professionals, guaranteeing they have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to reach their full potential

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline
• Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts and tools
• A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization
• Technical writing and research experience in a tax context
• The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects
• Strong influencing skills, and the confidence to question existing processes
• Willingness to travel as needed, and ability to work in a balanced hybrid environment

• Achieved or partially achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or the ability to sit for a state bar

• We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. Base salaries range from $81,700 to $135,000 across the US, with $98,100 to $153,500 for selected metro areas. The total rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off.
• Hybrid model: most external, client‑serving roles work in person 40–60% of the time on engagements, projects or years.
