Handling multi‑state sales/use tax recovery projects for large, sophisticated organizations takes more than just a technical understanding of current sales and use tax rules. As a Sales and Use Tax Manager assigned to EY’s Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review Center of Excellence (COE), you will build and apply your knowledge on a wide range of sales and use tax recovery projects for clients in multiple industries.

Key Responsibilities
- Research clients’ business operations and build long‑lasting relationships with them.
- Identify applicable sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions.
- Identify potential over payment opportunities or risks and communicate these to clients.
- Monitor current tax law changes to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.
- Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches for sales and use tax recoveries.
- Prepare and defend sales and use tax refund claims.
- Participate in and manage a motivated team of professionals, guaranteeing they have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to reach their full potential.

- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
- Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts and tools.
- Experience managing budgets, people and projects.
- A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
- The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
- Strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes.
- Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment.
- An achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or be a member of a state bar.

What We Offer YouWe offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $105,100 to $192,600. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $126,100 to $218,900.
Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.Join us in a team‑led and leader‑enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client‑serving roles to work together in person 40‑60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
