STS Technical Services is actively seeking a Parts Counterperson
. This person is responsible for commercial truck parts sales and customer service to retail and service department customers. This is a direct hire position for an established trucking company. - The primary duties and responsibilities of the Parts Counterperson are to fulfill customer parts needs in the most efficient and accurate manner by:
- Responding to customer parts or information requests quickly
- Communicating with customers when a delay in response will occur and offering alternatives
- Recording information carefully and identifying needed parts using most efficient method
- Determining availability and price information and documenting this information as necessary
- Providing part to customer from stock, procuring locally or creating a parts order as directed
- Correctly documenting and completing part sale on parts invoice
- Monitoring the status of customer orders, advising in case of problems and notifying upon arrival
- Respond to phone calls within three rings, and the ability to handle multiple calls simultaneously
- Receive, log and shelve parts within the parts room
- Pick orders for internal and external customers
- Maintain organization and accuracy of inventory within the parts room
- Organization and maintenance of the customer counter area, including pricing and application materials
- Maintenance of the "Will Call" order bins that serve outside customers and service department
- Organization and maintenance of the customer display and self-service area
- Inventory control maintenance as directed by supervisor, including bin work and correction
- Replenishing of stock in the customer display and self-service areas
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor
- Inventory control maintenance as directed by Parts Manager, including bin check and correction
- General department organization and maintenance duties as directed by Parts Manager
- The ability to stand during the majority of an 8-hour shift
- An energy level that will support constant movement throughout the department during the shift
- The ability to lift at least 50 pounds, unaided
- The ability to periodically work beyond the scheduled 8-hour shift, as directed by Parts Manager or Supervisor
- Occasional high noise levels
- Airborne elements such as dust, paint fumes and exhaust fumes
- Heavy usage of CRT video screens and PC keyboards
- Basic PC (Personal Computer) access skills and basic understanding of PC systems
- The knowledge and ability to apply basic mathematics
- The ability to communicate via written messages, including neat, legible handwriting
- Multi-tasking ability, especially in dealing with interruptions and quick acknowledgements
- The ability to remain aware of surrounding people and elements while concentrating on a task
- Participation in further educational classes as directed by the Parts Manager or Supervisor
- Mechanical aptitude or experience in automotive or truck mechanics
- Parts department experience, particularly in a truck dealership or truck
- Aftermarket environment
- An ability to recognize opportunities for process and operational improvement
- Appreciation of the need for teamwork and sincere desire to contribute as a part of the team
- Excellent communication skills, including an awareness of others and an effective listening ability
- Customer appreciation, a desire satisfy customers and the ability to instill customer confidence
- An ability to build the team with helpfulness and interaction in an outgoing, approachable manner
- A commitment to customer satisfaction by addressing potential issues proactively
- Honesty and integrity
- A High School degree or equivalent
- Trade school education in Parts Operations or Transportation Technology
