Role Overview

Kriya’s summer intern will be a 40‑hour/week position onsite in one of our RTP offices. Kriya’s summer intern will have an individual project and the opportunity to develop technical, engineering and/or scientific expertise. Through our summer internship, intern students develop a professional network, learn how to work in a scientific and engineering environment, build hands‑on laboratory skills, and deliver presentations showcasing their work.

Key Responsibilities

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) & Sustainability Intern will provide EHS support by helping to ensure a safe and compliant work environment across Kriya’s facilities. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced biopharmaceutical setting while contributing to meaningful EHS initiatives.

The Facilities Intern will support the team with project assistance across Kriya’s three facilities, all located in Research Triangle Park, NC. This role will provide the opportunity to learn about equipment, facilities and systems in GMP and non‑GMP environments.

Experience & Skills
  • EHS Intern
    • Currently pursuing an Associates, Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, occupational health & safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
    • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices and hazardous materials management is a plus.
    • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
    • Prior experience or coursework in EHS or related disciplines.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Organized and comfortable working/learning in lab environment.
    • Good presentation and organization skills.
  • Facilities Intern
    • Intern: rising Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s in chemical engineering, bioengineering, biochemistry, or cell biology or a related discipline.
    • Organized and comfortable working/learning in manufacturing and office environments.
    • Knowledge of basic equipment skills.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Good presentation and organization skills
Work Environment
  • Primarily a laboratory or office setting.
  • May involve standing, sitting, and using laboratory equipment for extended periods.
  • Some lifting of equipment or materials may be required.
  • Work may involve exposure to chemicals or biological materials; proper handling and disposal procedures must be followed.
