The HVAC Design Engineer will work closely with Estimators, Project Managers, Engineering staff, Field Teams, and Clients to deliver practical, efficient, and code-compliant HVAC system designs. This role supports both design-build and plan-spec projects from early concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design HVAC systems, including load calculations, equipment selection, and ductwork and piping layouts
  • Prepare construction documents, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Perform energy calculations and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Coordinate designs with architects, structural engineers, and other trades
  • Support projects from concept through construction in both design-build and plan-spec environments
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise and recommendations
  • Review submittals and assist with RFIs
  • Conduct site visits as needed to verify field conditions and support project teams
  • Contribute to value engineering initiatives and cost-optimization efforts
  • Assist in developing internal engineering standards and best practices
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and interns
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field
  • 2–10 years of HVAC design experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability and desire to obtain licensure
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, load calculations, and mechanical codes
  • Familiarity with Wisconsin mechanical and energy codes
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and collaboration skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in growing into a leadership role
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
