Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are seeking a highly motivated Transportation Engineer to join a growing team in Madison. This market is extremely active right now, and we're looking for a strong technical contributor who can support and lead transportation-focused projects across planning, design, and delivery.

The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of relevant transportation engineering experience and holds a Professional Engineer (PE) license. However, candidates without a PE will still be considered if they have strong hands‑on experience in roadway, traffic, or transportation design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and support transportation engineering design for roadway, highway, and infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, reports, and design documentation.
  • Conduct geometric design, traffic analysis, modeling, and related calculations.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, planners, and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Assist in the development and review of project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation standards and guidelines.
  • Support client communication and contribute to proposal and project development as needed.
Qualifications

Required:

  • 4+ years of experience in transportation engineering (roadway, traffic, or related discipline).
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design tools/software (e.g., Civil 3D, Micro Station, Synchro, HCS, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of transportation design standards (DOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, etc.).
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with Wisconsin DOT (WisDOT) projects.

Will Consider:

  • Candidates without a PE if they bring strong, relevant transportation engineering experience.
Why This Role Is Hot

Madison's transportation engineering market is experiencing significant growth, resulting in a high demand for skilled engineers who can contribute immediately to active and upcoming projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a role with strong project impact and career advancement potential.
