A growing, privately held manufacturing organization is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead and scale its engineering function. This is a newly created role designed to strengthen technical leadership, support business growth, and provide hands-on guidance to a team of project-focused engineers.

This position is ideal for an experienced engineering leader who enjoys being close to the work, mentoring engineers, and partnering cross-functionally to drive execution.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and develop a team of engineers, providing technical direction, mentorship, and performance guidance
• Own engineering execution across new product development, tooling, and process improvement initiatives
• Serve as a senior technical resource, ensuring engineering solutions align with manufacturing, quality, and regulatory requirements
• Partner closely with operations, quality, and leadership to support production readiness and continuous improvement
• Help establish and refine engineering standards, processes, and best practices
• Balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical involvement when needed

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in engineering leadership within a manufacturing environment
• Strong background in plastics manufacturing, such as injection molding, tooling, or regulated product manufacturing
• Experience leading engineers in project-driven roles
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, onsite manufacturing setting
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business impact
