Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to support our Refrigeration Controls Product Engineering team. This role focuses on mechanical design, drawing development, product validation, and quality-driven engineering practices within a manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in CREO, GD&T, sheet metal and machined component design, and structured problem-solving methods. This position requires technical leadership, hands‑on design execution, and cross‑functional collaboration to ensure product integrity and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage 3D models and 2D drawings in CREO.
- Design sheet metal parts, machined components, weldments, and assemblies.
- Apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5) to ensure accurate and functional documentation.
- Lead design and drawing reviews focused on manufacturability and quality.
- Develop and execute validation plans (dimensional, functional, durability testing).
- Support root cause analysis using structured tools (8D, DMAIC, etc.).
- Collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing to resolve production and supplier issues.
- Manage CAD data and design releases within PLM systems.
- Maintain BOMs, revisions, and engineering change documentation in ERP systems.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to improve processes and product reliability.
- Participate in PFMEA reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Testing teams.
- Support prototype builds and pre‑production validation.
- Communicate technical findings through reports and documentation.
- Mentor team members on drafting standards and GD&T best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET‑accredited).
- 5+ years of mechanical design, product engineering, or quality engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in CREO Parametric.
- Advanced knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Experience with validation testing and quality tools.
- Experience managing BOMs and engineering change processes.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Experience with Windchill PLM and SAP ERP.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience (Green Belt preferred).
- Experience in manufacturing environments collaborating with suppliers.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Project skills.
- Familiarity with metrology and inspection processes.
