Relief Lead Operator – District Energy Plant We are partnering with a client that manages and operates a highly advanced district energy plant serving a major medical center campus. This facility produces steam and chilled water that heat and cool most of the buildings on the campus, an environment where reliability directly supports patient care every day.

Compensation and BenefitsHourly range: 42.00 to 50.00
Compensation is based on experience, skills, and business needs.
- NASOE High Pressure Steam Engineer First Class, OR ASOPE Power Plant Operating Engineer First Class license, OR City of Milwaukee First Class License or equivalent experience
- Substantial experience operating and repairing gas and oil fired boilers, steam turbines, electric drives, pumps, and related equipment
- Demonstrated ability to lead others and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
- Physically able to climb around equipment, lift up to 50 lbs, and work with standard tools
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- On a relief basis and as directed by supervisory personnel, provide direction and instruction to on shift staff to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations in compliance with laws, procedures, and customer requirements
- Perform the duties of a Lead Engineer or Shift Engineer when assigned
- Operate chiller and boiler systems
- Coordinate with construction, maintenance, project, and distribution system teams regarding system evolutions and work activities
- Maintain oversight of water treatment activities
- Perform housekeeping tasks as assigned
- Perform lubrication tasks per the facility’s Lubrication Program schedule
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities, perform minor maintenance walkthroughs, and document any outstanding issues
- Execute assigned collateral duties related to plant operations such as procedure development, chemical management, and safety systems
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Enter confined spaces with limited access
Work is performed in a steam, hot water, and chilled water plant and within its distribution system. Employees may encounter:
- Fumes, airborne particles, and chemical hazards including water treatment chemicals
- High pressure steam and extreme temperatures
- Moving and rotating equipment
- Confined spaces, slippery surfaces, and elevated noise levels moderate to loud
