Overview
Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures and modular metal enclosures for housing fully-equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. We have moved operations into a newly renovated facility and are expanding our team. We are looking for a Design Automation Engineer to join our growing engineering team.

- Solid Works Design & Modeling
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings that meet engineering and manufacturing standards.
- Support new product development and existing product modifications.
- Drive Works Automation
- Develop and maintain automation rules, templates, and configurators within Drive Works to streamline repetitive design tasks.
- Collaborate with engineers and sales teams to build product configurators that enable rapid customization.
- PDM Administration
- Manage engineering data and documentation through Solid Works PDM
. - Ensure compliance with version control, workflow approvals, and data integrity standards.
- Provide user support, training, and troubleshooting for PDM-related issues.
- Manage engineering data and documentation through Solid Works PDM
- Process Optimization
- Identify opportunities to automate workflows and reduce design cycle times.
- Develop best practices, standards, and documentation for CAD and automation processes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and IT to align design automation with business needs.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
, Manufacturing Engineering
, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Proficiency in Solid Works (Certified Solid Works Professional [CSWP] or higher preferred).
- Hands-on experience with Drive Works (Drive Works Solo/Pro is a plus).
- Strong knowledge of Solid Works PDM administration and workflows.
- Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and product lifecycle management (PLM) principles.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
- Experience with ERP or MRP system integrations.
- Knowledge of VBA, SQL, or other programming/scripting languages for customization.
- Exposure to automation tools beyond Drive Works (e.g., API development, macros).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to train and support CAD/PDM users.
