Your Role At Baxter

As a Principal Systems Engineer at Baxter, your work contributes directly to making a significant impact on others. It’s exciting work—and you’ll be part of a collaborative, cross‑functional team that leads by influence.

Your Team

R&D teams at Baxter develop, test, and launch products to improve patient care. A Principal Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing products and providing creative solutions associated with the design, development, and sustaining engineering for our new and existing product portfolio.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Accountable for the entire product development process—from engaging with customers and marketing to composing and developing user needs, to the eventual product launch.
  • Play a critical role in product development, ensuring the product meets all functional and performance requirements, and translating manufacturing and service requirements into product design.
  • Lead the development and documentation of the product systems architecture and systems‑level design, including decomposing the system architecture and requirements into subsystem and interface specifications.
  • Provide technical leadership to the development team to ensure that the project successfully meets cost, quality, and schedule targets throughout the product life cycle.
  • Resolve competing constraints between interrelated functions (engineering, manufacturing, regulatory, marketing, etc.) required to deliver the product to market.
  • Plan and carry out system integration tasks to reduce problems in systems verification and validation.
  • Document traceability from requirements to verification activities, and from requirements to design entities.
  • Resolve systems‑related technical issues by applying problem‑solving tools such as cause and effect diagrams, Pareto charts, etc.
  • Act as lead integrator for the product, proactively monitoring integration issues during development tests and ensuring module/system development is successful.
  • Adhere to the Baxter Quality Management system and support quality audits.
What You Will Bring
  • Graduate or post‑graduate in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical, or related engineering.
  • 8+ years of relevant technical experience, including previous mentoring experience.
  • A demonstrated track record in system development—covering requirements management, risk management, cybersecurity, usability, performance, and reliability.
  • Experience with tools/practices such as QFD, Pugh Matrix, CTQ, DFR, DFX.
  • Systems development experience in diagnostic cardiology medical devices or any other medical device is a definite plus.
  • Agile product development experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Firm decision maker with good influencing skills.
  • Openness to collaborate in interest of the project/organization.
  • Mentoring capabilities.
