Role Description

This role deepens and extends the joyful musical foundation established in the early grades, guiding students toward growing independence, confidence, and expressive artistry. Through singing, movement, instrumental exploration, and creative music‑making, the teacher nurtures students’ God‑given gifts while fostering a lifelong love of music and learning. In collaboration with arts colleagues, this teacher designs and leads meaningful, developmentally appropriate performance experiences each year, such as chapel music, seasonal programs, and grade‑level showcases.

This role values collaboration, when appropriate, with after‑school theatre programming and vocal development, supporting healthy singing technique and strong musicianship.

Key Responsibilities Academics
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high‑quality music instruction for students in grades 3‑5 that inspires curiosity and joy.
  • Use state music standards to drive instruction, ensuring lessons are developmentally appropriate and aligned to long‑term skill progression.
  • Scaffold instruction to meet the developmental needs of students at different stages of learning.
  • Introduce students to a variety of age‑appropriate instruments and musical experiences.
  • Teach and inspire students in a way that nurtures musical skill development, expression, and lifelong appreciation for music.
  • Create a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment that promotes creativity, respect, and participation.
  • Assess student learning informally and formally, using observations and performance‑based tasks to guide instruction.
  • Design and lead grade‑level musical performances and celebrations that showcase student growth, musicianship, and confidence.
  • Piano proficiency is strongly preferred, with opportunities to participate in and support all‑school worship experiences.
