Position: Instructor, Mathematics (Part-Time)

Responsibilities
  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching‑related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, recruit and retain students, and market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow‑up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Only candidates who meet all of the base minimum requirements listed below will be considered.

Educational Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Mathematics or Math Education, OR
  • Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate‑level credits in Mathematics, Math Education, or a subfield*.

* If teaching MATH 211, 231, 232, 233, or 234, must have 8 credits in calculus and 9 graduate credits in mathematics.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education.
  • Experience in teaching and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including in‑person and online.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain curriculum currency.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English fluency (must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in both languages).

  • Online Information Management Systems – e.g., Self‑Service or other online systems used for student advising, programs, grading, schedules, and rosters.
  • Blackboard Ultra – Experience with Blackboard Ultra or other web‑based course‑management systems.
  • Technology‑based Instruction – Experience with technology‑based instructional delivery systems including SMART, interactive touch‑screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players, and other classroom technology.
  • Emerging Technologies – Experience with social networking applications.
Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the General Education Pathway and is available to start during the fall 2026 semester (August start date).

Hours

This is a part‑time faculty pool position. Assignments are temporary and not guaranteed; they may vary in hours/days and will depend entirely on course availability and department needs each semester. All work must be performed in the state of Wisconsin; virtual opportunities for out‑of‑state residents are not available.

Preferred instructional modality and teaching times:

  • Instructional Modality:
    In‑person, online, and/or hybrid.
  • Teaching Times:
    Daytime, evening, and/or weekend.
Salary

The starting hourly wage for all part‑time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part‑time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction (equivalent to $70 per hour) to cover office hours and prep time. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non‑negotiable.
