PositionSummary
Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, the instructor will teach conventional machining, CNC machining set‑up and operations in a related laboratory atmosphere; and provide general support and curriculum assistance to learning activities in related subjects in the area of machine tool operations and programming. Related duties include participation in division and department activities and the performance of other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching‑related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program evaluation and follow‑up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational
Minimum Experience:
- Must have completed a Wisconsin Indentured apprenticeship in Machine Tool or Tool and Die;
OR - Must meet Wisconsin State Apprenticeship standards in Machine Tool/Tool and Die.
Occupational
Minimum Experience:
In addition to the Educational requirement.
- Candidate must have a minimum of five years full‑time or equivalent (10,000 hours) of relevant work experience in Machine Tool.
- In addition, at least ONE of the following must be met:
- At least one year of work experience must have occurred within the last five years;
OR - Two years of teaching Machine Tool course work at the post‑secondary level within the past five years
- At least one year of work experience must have occurred within the last five years;
One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent two (2) semesters full‑time of four (4) semesters part‑time.
Preferred Occupational
Experience:
Prior experience operating Swiss machines is highly desirable.

- Online Information Management Systems—(e.g., Self Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters)
- Blackboard Ultra—Experience with Blackboard Ultra or other web‑based course‑management systems
- Technology‑based Instruction—Experience with technology‑based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
- Emerging Technologies—Experience with social networking applications
Start Date: This position supports the Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation Pathway and is available to start in the Spring Semester (January 2026).
