The Middle School History Teacher is responsible for guiding students through an exploration of the past to better understand the present and prepare for the future. Utilizing a classically inspired approach and an understanding of diverse cultures, the teacher will instruct students in historical thinking, geography, and civics while maintaining a Christ-centered classroom environment. The successful candidate will foster a love for inquiry and truth, helping students see God’s hand throughout history while embodying the “Warrior Way” in all interactions.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Maintain a positive, Christ-centered climate using “Warrior Way”
- Design and deliver engaging, effective history lessons that challenge middle schoolers to think critically about primary and secondary sources.
- Facilitate lessons with approved curriculum and Wisconsin Standards for Social Studies
- Integrate Biblical principles into history instruction; lead students in daily prayer and facilitate discussions on faith and ethics in a historical context.
- Tailor teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and reading levels within the middle school age group.
- Maintain an accurate online grade book and provide timely, constructive feedback on student essays, projects, and exams.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and staff regarding student academic progress and social-emotional development.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events to strengthen the Eastbrook community.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tell compelling historical narratives.
- Expert knowledge of historical periods and figures.
- Professional interpersonal skills used to navigate parent-teacher partnerships and student behavioral needs.
- Thorough organizational skills, particularly in lesson planning and maintaining student records.
- Productive time management skills to balance grading, planning, and extracurricular duties.
- Analytical thinking skills to help students dissect complex historical events and conflicting viewpoints.

- Active membership in good standing within a Christian church community.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in History, Secondary Education, or a related field required.
- Two or more years of teaching experience at the middle or high school level is preferred.
- Familiarity with classical education methods or a liberal arts background is highly desirable.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the classroom.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
