Job Summary
Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) is actively recruiting qualified candidates for a Special Education Itinerant - Program Support Teacher Evaluation Team position within the Department of Specialized Services.
The Special Education Itinerant - Program Support Teacher (Evaluation) supports the assessment, evaluation, and identification of students with known or suspected disabilities that may adversely impact educational performance. This role is responsible for coordinating the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process for initial evaluations and ensuring compliance with Department of Public Instruction (DPI) requirements while collaborating with families, school staff, and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications
Eligible applicants MUST:
- Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Hold a current lifetime license from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in special education (801, 808, 809, 810, 811, or 830).
The Special Education Itinerant - Program Support Teacher (Evaluation) will:
- Assist in the assessment and diagnosis of students suspected of having disabilities that affect educational performance.
- Coordinate and facilitate the IEP team process for initial evaluations.
- Serve as the special education teacher for initial IEP meetings, including:
- Scheduling and organizing IEP meetings
- Compiling and synthesizing evaluation reports
- Developing initial IEPs
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members during meetings
- Confer with classroom teachers to gather relevant information regarding students
¿ academic performance, social skills, and learning approaches. - Develop IEPs that meet DPI compliance standards and are designed to support students
¿ educational and social progress. - Participate in the development and enhancement of a district-wide culture that promotes professional growth and student learning.
- Actively support the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) Strategic Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of and experience with the following areas is required:
- Criteria and characteristics of disabilities
- The special education evaluation process
- Individualized Education Program (IEP) development
- Formative and standardized assessment tools
- Data analysis to identify student strengths and areas of need
- IEP development aligned with Common Core State Standards and Common Core Essential Elements
- Co-teaching models, differentiated instruction, and Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) practices
The teacher salary range starts at $54,386 and increases according to the set salary schedule based on education beyond the required bachelor's degree and previous years of fully-licensed K-12 teaching experience.
