About

Tamarack Waldorf School is an Early Childhood through Grade 8 independent Waldorf school dedicated to nurturing independent, ethical, and socially responsible young people. Our programs are grounded in anthroposophy and Waldorf pedagogy and supported by a collaborative adult culture, strong faculty governance, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Tamarack Waldorf School has been in its current location on Milwaukee’s vibrant East Side since 2001. It is situated within walking distance of many nature settings in an urban landscape, such as the Milwaukee River, Lake Michigan, parks, playgrounds, and museums. Milwaukee is rich in its cultural heritage and diversity celebrating it with many festivals and celebrations that take place throughout the year and city.

As part of the Great Lakes Region, we are fortunate to have four distinct seasons of the year, with plenty of activities that take place to celebrate the changes of season. Our campus is in an urban setting and housed in a historic school building with beautiful windows that allow for an abundance of natural light.

Now in our 29th year, Tamarack Waldorf School is a full member school of AWSNA and WECAN, encompassing early childhood through Grade 8, with an enrollment of more than 200 students. Our culturally, economically, and racially diverse student body from throughout the Milwaukee region is guided through the full complement of Waldorf Education by Tamarack’s well-trained, innovative, and long-serving faculty and staff.

Our faculty is committed to continuous growth and improvement, and our pedagogy is strongly rooted in Anthroposophy.
