Job Summary
The substitute academic instructors' responsibilities include all aspects of instruction and the learning experience of the students.
Duties- Plans, prepares, and delivers lessons to all students in the class according to the educational needs, abilities, and achievement of the students through effective delivery of services and expectations considering the learning styles, abilities and goals of the students, as outlined in the PRH, Standard Operating Procedures, CDSS Plan, Standards of Conduct, curriculum etc. Ensures integrity is maintained with all test compliance.
- Assesses, records, and reports on the development, progress, attainment and behavior of students, including ensuring ESP evaluations (SPERs) are conducted every 60 days and that students have appropriate evaluations based on the CSS profiles and competencies and appropriate short, mid and long-term goals are provided with each evaluation and that the pre-panel meeting occurs with each student.
- Ensures instructional approach support students’ career development and placement goals, the Zero Tolerance Policy, mastery of Career Success Standards, and college and career readiness. Models, mentors, monitors appropriate Career Success Standards. Provides direct and thorough staff support for students to meet their placement/employability goals.
- Participates in the monthly curriculum committee to ensure student contextual learning and EWS activities are tailored to specific student needs.
- Maintains good housekeeping in all areas, creates an attractive and decorated classroom and complies with safety practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university is preferred. Certified to teach in the state in which the center is located (RO may waive if center is unable to hire certified teachers, but the candidate must pursue certification. A valid state driver’s license is required. Education and certificate requirement may be waived according to local campus district requirements for substitute instructional staff.
