First Grade Teacher

Tamarack Waldorf School is seeking a full-time First Grade Class Teacher for the  school year. We are seeking applicants committed to teaching with enthusiasm and warmth, demonstrating effective classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills. This candidate should also have an interest and desire to work in collaboration with colleagues and within the guiding principles of Waldorf Education. This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a Waldorf Teaching Certificate preferred.

Candidates enrolled in Waldorf teacher training will be considered but will be expected to complete a Waldorf certification program.

The school is situated within walking distance of many nature settings in an urban landscape, such as the Milwaukee River, Lake Michigan, parks, playgrounds, and museums. Milwaukee is rich in its cultural heritage and diversity celebrating it with many festivals and celebrations that take place throughout the year and city. As part of the Great Lakes Region, we are fortunate to have four distinct seasons of the year, with plenty of activities that take place to celebrate the changes of season.

The position offers 10 PTO days, additional paid time off around holidays and breaks and our 1st grade teacher will have an all-day assistant, in-house mentor as well as an outside mentor.

Ideally, our top candidate will commit to carrying the class through 5th grade as their lead teacher.

Our Lower Grades curriculum includes world language, handwork, art, music, physical education, and environmental education. We also offer our students an educational support program to meet their diverse needs. We are a full member of AWSNA and WECAN and are located near Lake Michigan. Our neighborhood offers our students many outdoor experiences while being centrally located on Milwaukee’s east side.
