Position Overview
The Department of Educational Policy and Leadership (EDPL) at Marquette University seeks candidates for an advanced rank, tenure‑track position focused on Educational Leadership to support the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership (Principal, Director of Instruction) and Ph.D./Superintendent certification programs beginning Fall 2026. Candidates must be able to teach graduate‑level educational leadership and doctoral classes, provide strategic vision and academic leadership for programs, pursue an active research agenda (including grant funding), advise dissertations, and engage in service to the university and community as appropriate.
Faculty are expected to teach across programs as needed. Situated in the College of Education, EDPL has fifteen faculty members and offers undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. programs in educational leadership and related fields. - Teach Educational Leadership (online, hybrid, in‑person) and other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.
- Advise students in the Educational Leadership and doctoral programs.
- Direct and advise dissertations in education‑related fields.
- Provide strategic vision and academic leadership for the Educational Leadership master’s program, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
- Pursue an active research agenda, including participating in the pursuit of grant funding.
- Engage in service to the EDPL department, university, profession, and community as appropriate.
- Evaluate student learning using appropriate assessment methods.
- Advise and mentor Educational Leadership and doctoral students regarding course selection and professional development.
- Serve as chair or co‑chair of dissertation committees, guiding students in study design and implementation.
- Provide vision, leadership, administrative support, and recruitment for the Educational Leadership program in collaboration with other faculty and in conjunction with accreditation standards.
- Engage with colleagues in the Department of Educational Policy and Leadership and across the university to advance goals of Educational Leadership.
- Engage with the profession and community to advance educational aims.
- Earned doctorate in education.
- Quantitative and/or qualitative research experience.
- K–12 and/or college‑level teaching experience.
- Experience and/or licensure as a principal, director of instruction, or superintendent.
- Successful mentoring of doctoral students.
- Established research agenda.
- Knowledge of K‑12 Catholic and/or large, urban school districts (preferred).
- Experience teaching online and hybrid courses (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to procure grant funding (preferred).
- Capacity to teach courses in Teacher Education, Public Service, and/or Student Affairs in Higher Education when warranted (preferred).
