Job Summary
Milwaukee Public is actively recruiting qualified candidates for a Music Teaching position for Audubon Middle and High School.
Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) is seeking highly motivated and creative individuals to build and implement high quality music education programming. Music educators are part of the vibrant arts community in Milwaukee and have countless opportunities to partner with Milwaukee's professional arts organizations. Educators are supported by the Music Curriculum Specialist and music support teachers in the office of Fine Arts, as well as the Milwaukee Music Educators Association, a growing community of music educators across the district who seek to share best practices and develop a strong and culturally responsive music curriculum.
MPS music educators provide a music curriculum aligned to the Wisconsin Music Standards. In MPS, the teachers and leaders are committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap among subgroups within the schools. A Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) teacher provides an instructional program for students which is appropriate to their educational needs and developmental level. Qualifications
Eligible applicants MUST:
- Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Hold a content area teacher license
- If you are not a licensed teacher, you must be willing to enroll in a licensing program within one semester of hire. Unlicensed applicants may reach out to an MPSU Talent Development Specialist to learn how to find a licensure program .us .
- Maintains a broad knowledge of all facets related to the teaching assignment as related to the subject and grade level of the students.
- Uses research-proven practices to improve student achievement.
- Implements Board policies as necessary to improve the educational environment.
- Plans and organizes material for instruction and presents and reinforces lessons as appropriate.
- Addresses different learning modalities, including auditory, visual and kinesthetic.
- Uses appropriate classroom management strategies and relates well to the student population.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The Teacher salary range starts at $54,386.11 and increases according to the set salary schedule based on education beyond the required bachelor's degree and previous years of fully licensed K-12 teaching experience.
