Reporting to the Director of the Student Resource Center, the Social Worker will support the mission of student retention and completion and assist students with issues that impact their well‑being and their overall academic success. The Social Worker will be a part of a team that assists students in obtaining non‑academic resources that will support strengthening their daily lives and student experiences.
Connects students with campus and community resources that assist with solving social, economic, emotional and behavioral challenges. Offers support to students coping with problems and investigate possible solutions to issues such as or related to food insecurity, housing issues, financial well‑being and family crises. Serves as a resource to the college’s faculty and staff by informing the campus community of various resources for students.
The Social Worker works in collaboration with campus and statewide stakeholders and they are essential in identifying resources, following up on needs and resources and assisting students to persist to graduation.
- Student Support and Other Resources: Assist in connecting students with campus and community resources that assist with resolving social, economic, emotional and behavior challenges. Provide ongoing support to students to assist students with their ability to cope with problems or other issues related to food insecurity, housing issues, financial well‑being and/or family crises.
- Student Community Resource Center Support: Communicate, coordinate, refer and track services for students who utilize the Student Community Resource Center (SCRC). May facilitate workshops and assist with campus events that promote well‑being and other SCRC opportunities. Serve as an SCRC resource to the College’s faculty and staff by informing the campus community of various resources for students.
- Operations and Planning: Assist in the design, development and implementation of Social Work initiatives. Assist in the strategic planning initiatives in alignment with institutional goals and contribute to departmental processes and presentations for the department. Partners with the SCRC on college‑wide priority initiatives and duties as assigned.
- Communication and Programming: Assist in the development of program materials for distribution and campus‑wide communication. Provide input on program design for the student audience and for the SCRC department. Communicate program activities to multiple audiences in collaboration with institutional stakeholders.
- Metrics, Tracking, and Record‑keeping: Collect and maintain databases and files related to the student community. Track and monitor key performance indicators to assess and evaluate program effectiveness. Suggest recommendations for improvement to enhance the student’s experience and well‑being.
- Collaborative Partnerships: Coordinate and manage community‑based activities including acting as a liaison with community organizations. Participate on appropriate external committees relevant to the advancement of student success. May participate in, or chair internal cross‑functional committees and organize regular status reviews and debrief meetings amongst stakeholders.
- Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices and standards in social work for diverse populations. Participate in personal and professional development to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities related to equity and inclusion practices.
- Other Duties: Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operations of the division and to support institutional objectives.
