Overview

The Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Plastic Surgery, Children’s Specialty Group and Children’s Wisconsin are seeking a board-certified/board-eligible pediatric plastic surgeon at Children’s Wisconsin. The Department has 16 full-time faculty surgeons who practice the full spectrum of plastic surgery across many Froedtert practice sites, including Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Children’s Wisconsin, Zablocki Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, Moorland Reserve Health Center, Tosa Health Center and Drexel Health Center.

Pediatric plastic surgery encompasses craniofacial surgery, cleft lip and palate surgery, hand surgery, and general reconstructive pediatric surgery. This Division has three faculty who focus a significant component of their effort at Children’s Wisconsin. The Department directs the multi-specialty cleft palate team, which includes plastic surgeons, otolaryngologists, orthodontists, audiologists, speech pathologists, geneticists, psychologists, and social workers. The craniofacial surgery services include cranial vault surgery (provided jointly with pediatric neurosurgery) and midfacial and mandibular surgery.

Craniofacial surgeons also provide facial trauma call services at Froedtert and adult hospital centers, taking one-half of all facial trauma call. The Department provides reconstructive hand and upper extremity surgery for congenital anomalies and post-traumatic injury, and leads the Brachial Plexus Team. Plastic surgery also provides general reconstructive services at Children’s Wisconsin, including wound management, tissue expansion, skin resurfacing, tumor excision, and newborn services.

Children’s and its joint venture with the Medical College of Wisconsin – the Children’s Specialty Group (CSG) – are the largest providers of pediatric healthcare in the state, serving the children and families of Wisconsin with the highest level of care through their ACS Level I Children’s Surgery Verification Center, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence, a 72-bed Level IV NICU, a Level IV Epilepsy Center, and a 72-bed PICU.

In , CW and CSG had six specialties ranked by US News & World Report: cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; gastroenterology and GI surgery; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; and pulmonology. With over 70 specialties and 675 providers, CSG providers had 220,000 outpatient visits at 13 regional care sites, 67,000 emergency department/trauma center visits, and over 9,000 admissions.

Position Requirements

  • Completed or finishing fellowship in pediatric plastic surgery
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Wisconsin
