Firm Principal/Partner and Office Manager

FEH Design is searching for partner level staff member(s) to manage the Milwaukee office of FEH Design located in West Allis/Milwaukee. We’re looking for self‑motivated, passionate senior‑level partners that are seeking a challenging career with leadership opportunities. These individuals will be a crucial part of helping us realize our vision in growing and serving clients in eastern Wisconsin. FEH Design has a corporate structure with approximately 50 staff members across four office locations.

Our team includes architects, structural engineers, and interior designers. Within that group of 50 staff, seventeen have ownership. You will get the opportunity to work alongside the other leadership to grow the office in both size and design presence. Candidates must have a passion for mentoring as we continue to develop our small group of talented staff in their careers.

The office manager can be a licensed architect, structural engineer, or interior designer.

Responsibilities
  • Excellent client relations and business development skills are required.
  • Experience with managing staff in an office settling is a requirement.
  • Identify, market and contract for new project work.
  • Build a positive culture in the office with staff and visitors
  • Provide project leadership from concept to construction, specifications, & material selections.
  • Provide regular direction of work internal and external and be the “go-to” person on projects.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring of staff in their careers.
  • Have a working knowledge to assist in producing and overseeing accurate technical and contract documentation for the construction of the project.
  • Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction.
  • Work with users, engineers, contractors, fabricators, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.
  • Utilize hand and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts.
  • Meet with clients and assist in managing client expectations, team communication, and in-house engineering coordination.
  • Must have the ability to attend and lead evening meetings with clients.
Qualifications
  • Must be able to multi-task, be a team leader, possess a can‑do attitude, be a self‑starter.
  • 10+ years of professional experience on projects with increasing responsibilities.
  • Licensed Architect, Engineer, or Interior Designer in Wisconsin and have project experience in the Milwaukee area.
  • Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques.
  • Experience in construction document preparation and field observation.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage variety of project types in various stages of development.
  • The ability to translate design concepts into the development of details
  • Must know and be familiar with Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, and other 3D modeling software.
  • Coaching and mentoring aptitude and staff management experience.
  • Good verbal, graphic, and written communication skills.
  • Track record of winning and managing a minimum of $500,000 in annual gross revenue for the firm.
  • Presentation skills to various experience-level client owners, committees, design teams, and public.
  • Ability to work successfully under pressure, and conflict, within restrictive time deadlines while maintaining focus, positive attitude, a sense of humor, and professional etiquette.
