Mold Designer

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Tool Room Manager, the Mold Designer is responsible for all design-related requirements of the Tool Room, including data management, stamping and extrusion dies, replacement components, new molds, and manufacturing needs involved during tool builds.

• Responsible for all data management based on Tool Room needs.
• Full mold/tool design as required.
• Assist in tooling project management from conception to mold/tool completion.
• Ensure that all tooling forms/paperwork are completed properly.
• Assist in coordinating work with outside tooling houses.
• Attend design reviews as required.

• Work with QA on quality issues.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining Hellermann Tyton’s Quality Management System and ISO 14001 certification by supporting corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.
• Use required personal protective equipment (e.g., safety shoes) at all times during scheduled work hours; additional PPE will be provided as required.

• Full mold design abilities, parting line development, and solid modeling.
• Ensure adherence to all plant rules, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain CAD databases for replacement components and new tooling.
• Assist in coordinating work with outside tooling houses.

• Associate degree or Tool & Die Apprentice certificate from an accredited institution.
• Prior experience with CAD software required.
• 5 years’ experience in plastic injection mold design.
• Experience in creating mold parting lines.
• Experience in stamping dies helpful.
• Prior Tool Room experience.
