Overview
Marquette University School of Dentistry (MUSoD) seeks qualified candidates for a part‑time faculty position in general dentistry at the school’s main campus in Milwaukee. The minimum weekly commitment is one full day or two half days per week. MUSoD, Wisconsin’s only dental school, is dedicated to meeting workforce needs, increasing access to underserved patients, and advancing dental education in the state.
The faculty member will serve on campus and at outreach clinics across Wisconsin.
- Deliver behavioral science and ethics instruction to dental students.
- Train dental students in effective patient communication, motivational interviewing, and managing patients with dental phobia or special needs.
- Administer dental student interview examinations.
- Offer consultation services to student providers regarding patient management strategies.
- Mentor students in behavioral science applications in dental care.
- Participate in all aspects of behavioral science in general dentistry in the classroom and clinic settings.
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.
D.) in Psychology or a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from a U.S. university accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) or the American Psychological Association (APA). - A current, valid state license to practice Mental Health Counseling.
- Current CPR Certification.
- Clinical experience in healthcare, medical education, or dental settings.
- Experience with cognitive‑behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, health psychology, positive psychology, and pain management in behavioral health.
- Prior experience teaching and coaching students in allied health school environments.
