Be the difference. Join our team to support dental students, faculty, and patients in the Dental School’s Graduate Program. Provide clinical assistance and instruction in line with the Clinic Operations Manual and standards of care.
Responsibilities- Provide dental assistance and instruction to students before, during, and after patient treatment, including emergencies.
- Teach four-handed dentistry concepts and practices.
- Assist students and faculty with compliance to record‑keeping protocols.
- Maintain and monitor dental equipment, instruments, and supplies per MUSOD standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate student activities and evaluate compliance with practice standards.
- Manage instrument and equipment, coordinate repairs and maintenance.
- Support the group coordinator: answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage patient records.
- Attend in‑service programs, group and dental assistant meetings, and committee meetings as required.
Skills and Abilities
- High school education plus one year of dental‑assistant experience.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, regulation agency requirements, four‑handed dentistry, instrumentation, impression materials and cements, X‑ray technology and procedures, sterilization procedures, patient management techniques, and CPR for health‑care providers.
- Dexterity and ability to tolerate long periods of bending, standing, and walking.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; basic computer proficiency.
- Excellent customer service, listening, discretion, flexibility, and team collaboration with a diverse population.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience working in an academic setting.
- Knowledge of Marquette University School of Dentistry policy and procedures.
