culture of respect and inclusion. The Visitor Experience Associate
serves as the first point of contact on Mondays for the Haggerty Museum
of Art s visitors, thereby setting the tone for the visitor experience.
They serves as an advocate for the museum s visitor while
simultaneously promoting the welfare of the museum. The Visitor
Experience Associate oversees daily visitor experience operations
including visitor reception, orientation and admission. They manage all
visitor traffic including visitors, groups, and staff appointments.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Welcome and effectively orient all museum
visitors including general visitors, tour groups and staff appointments
following orientation policies and procedures developed and articulated
by the museum.
2. Perform opening and closing procedures. Detect and
report any unusual circumstances, unsafe conditions, security risks,
property damage, etc. 3. Sell museum merchandise and memberships 4.
Implement safety and security procedures developed by Campus Safety and
the Haggerty Museum of Art, utilizing the panic button to summon Campus
Safety in case of an emergency.
5. Track visitor attendance, including
special events
6. Answer the Haggerty Museum of Art s general telephone
line and provide basic information to callers.
7. Direct and coordinate
Student Gallery Guards as needed to ensure consistent and adequate
gallery coverage during all public hours. Reference the provided guard
schedule to monitor guard shift attendance and contact guards as needed
if they are not on site for their assigned shift.
8. Assist with set-up
and tear-down for special events (tables, chair, podium, AV, sound
system ) 9. Assist Curator of Academic Engagement with class setup and
facilitation, i.e., computers and projection setup and configuration
Required Knowledge,
Skills And Abilities
High School Diploma Prior
related experience, preferably in museum visitor services or retail Must
demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, diplomacy and
tact in dealing with sensitive situations. Ability to exercise sound and
mature judgment Must possess ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Ability to work independently Ability to interact professionally and
effectively with a diverse public Ability to remain alert at all times
Strong commitment to providing quality customer service Working
Knowledge Of Computers, Audio Visual And Sound Equipment Preferred
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Bachelor s degree preferred Interest
And/or Experienc In Museums Preferred Customer Service Experience
