Position Summary

Position requires active and enthusiastic participation in the supervision of day campers. Be an active participant in campers’ experience and camp community. Uphold all policies, procedures, and safety standards for the wellbeing of staff and campers. Safely check in and check out campers riding the bus, maintain a safe bus environment, and communicate with caregivers as well as GSWISE staff as part of Bus Monitor duties.

This seasonal full‑time position is needed from June 1, 2026 through July 25, 2026.

What you’ll do
  • Supervise campers’ participation in structured and unstructured activities throughout their day.
  • Be responsible for overseeing the health and safety of campers.
  • Ensure implementation of Girl Scout Leadership Experience and the Girl Scout Law.
  • Engage in learning to build skills towards respectfully interacting with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.
  • Create a positive rapport with all campers and their parents.
  • Guide and implement program activities through camper/counselor planning and by actively assisting with lesson plans each week that focuses on age‑appropriate badge work.
  • Support the check‑in/check‑out process and assigned duties according to the bus monitor.
  • Assume responsibility by bus stop as bus monitors (located in Milwaukee County) and supervise the campers’ bus experience.
  • Ensure implementation of Girl Scout program and badge earning activities.
  • Effectively and respectfully communicate instructions, issues, and needs with campers, staff, and supervisors.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper use of camp facilities and equipment.
  • Keep records of incidents, logbooks, and attendance, and return all required paperwork completed and on time.
  • Ability to adjust quickly when scheduled activities need to change and/or are no longer able to be done.
  • Uphold and respect camp and Girl Scout traditions both daily and weekly including daily debriefs with campers, Girl Scout Ceremonies, mealtimes, etc.
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and creative in a variety of situations.
  • Assist with opening and closing of camp for the season.
  • Ensure appropriate adult‑campers ratios.
  • Mentor Counselors‑In‑Training (CITs)/Program Aids (PA) by demonstrating appropriate conduct, teaching leadership skills while being compassionate towards their growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Interest in specific program specialty.
  • Comfort and ability to work in a rustic outdoor environment.
  • Physical demands and work environment regularly requires the employee to walk, hike, and work outdoors in wooded areas.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Commitment to creating and maintaining a positive, fun, and professional environment.
  • Effectively and respectfully communicate instructions, issues, and needs with campers, staff, and supervisors including with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.
  • Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and enroll as a Girl Scout member.
  • Willingness to be an active, respectful member of camp and all camp activities while upholding Girl Scout traditions.
  • Must have a background check completed by GSWISE.
  • Experience and/or training in specific program specialty.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
