Job Responsibilities Teacher Aide (Drop-in Center)
- Assist in maintaining a safe play environment for children in the drop-off center and always ensure appropriate supervision of the children.
- Collect required information from parents regarding the children in the center.
- Provide children with a variety of age appropriate, multicultural activities, toys, and books, and supervise their use of these supplies.
- Provide children with healthy snacks and beverages.
- Engage the children in activities that promote social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
- Communicate with parents as needed and appropriate.
- Complete and submit necessary reports such as incident reports within 24 hours of any occurrence.
- Report suspected Child Abuse & Neglect incidents in accordance with WI State Statutes and UMOS Policy & Procedure.
- Assist with daily attendance reports and other weekly or monthly reports as needed.
- Ensure confidentiality of parents and children.
- Maintain all safety and security standards and procedures.
- Weigh all donations, sort them and put them at their designated areas.
- Prepare food baskets according to family size guidelines.
- Complete client intakes to distribute food and non-food items.
- Provide information and referral to community resources.
- Maintain and organize inventory, keep storage area stocked and clean.
- Attend meetings, conferences, workshops and perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed training in Early Childhood Education 1, First Aid with Choking, Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED, SIDS.
- One year of childcare experience required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A desire to work with children, and sensitivity to the needs of W-2 children and families.
- Have access to reliable transportation.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work with confidential information and documentation.
- Must possess awareness, knowledge, and sensitivity to socioeconomic and culturally diverse backgrounds of the target population served.
- Ability to work diplomatically with difficult people and diffuse angry customers quickly and effectively.
