Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In this role, you will manage full-cycle accounts payable processes within a dynamic manufacturing and distribution environment. This is a Contract to permanent position that offers the opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced team while showcasing your expertise in handling high-volume invoicing and vendor communications.

Responsibilities:

- Accurately process a high volume of vendor invoices, ensuring compliance with company policies.

- Perform three-way matching by verifying invoices against purchase orders and receiving documentation.

- Assign invoices to the correct general ledger accounts and maintain accurate records.

- Reconcile vendor statements, promptly resolving any discrepancies or payment issues.

- Prepare and execute weekly payment runs, including checks, ACH transfers, and wire payments.

- Update and maintain vendor records, such as W-9 forms and payment terms.

- Contribute to month-end closing tasks, including preparing accruals and financial reports.

- Collaborate with purchasing, operations, and warehouse teams to ensure proper documentation and approvals.

- Support internal audits by organizing and providing necessary documentation.

- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounts payable operations. Requirements - At least 2 years of accounts payable experience, ideally within manufacturing, distribution, or industrial sectors.

- Proficiency in handling purchase orders and inventory-related transactions.

- Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits.

- Experience working with large-scale ERP systems is preferred.

- Intermediate proficiency in Excel, with knowledge of VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and basic formulas.

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

- Strong communication skills, with the ability to resolve vendor issues professionally.

- Preferred experience in metals, industrial supply, or distribution industries is a plus.
