Overview
We have had the pleasure of working with this PE sponsor on six of their portfolio companies. This is an outstanding team with proven experience in buy-and-build strategies. We are working with the firm and this newly acquired high-growth technology solutions business to identify a strategic, hands-on Controller to elevate their accounting function and support the company's next phase of growth.
The Controller will lead the accounting function and build a high-performing team focused on accuracy, efficiency, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This individual will be responsible for all accounting operations and will serve as the technical accounting expert for the organization. The ideal candidate brings strong GAAP expertise, experience in private equity-backed and high-growth environments, and a demonstrated ability to enhance systems, processes, and internal controls.
PositionResponsibilities
Deliver High-Quality Financial Information
- Oversee all daily accounting operations, including general ledger, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax compliance, revenue recognition, and financial reporting
- Lead the preparation and timely distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage the annual audit process and serve as primary liaison with external auditors
- Ensure accurate and timely tax filings, business licenses, and related compliance activities
- Oversee fixed assets and capital expenditure accounting and reporting
- Support ad-hoc reporting needs and special projects
- Establish and maintain best-in-class accounting standards and processes
- Implement best-practice systems and process improvements across key accounting functions
- Lead system implementations and process transformation initiatives
- Evaluate and strengthen the company's system of internal controls
- Develop scalable processes that emulate public-company rigor and discipline
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and evolving accounting standards
- Refine accounting policies and procedures to align with growth objectives
- Provide guidance on complex accounting matters, including revenue recognition
- Partner with executive leadership to support strategic initiatives and reporting requirements
- Develop and mentor a strong accounting team rooted in service, performance, and continuous improvement
- Establish KPIs and metrics that promote ownership and accountability
- Communicate regularly with the team to anticipate challenges and celebrate achievements
- Take decisive action regarding staffing, development, and performance management
- Contribute to building a culture of excellence across the organization
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
- CPA or CMA certification required
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with leadership responsibility
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Experience in a private equity-backed environment
- Experience in a high-growth, scaling organization
- Demonstrated ability to implement systems and lead process improvements
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
- High attention to detail, strong sense of urgency, and unwavering ethical standards
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with ERP systems;
Macola and/or Acumatica preferred - Proven ability to partner effectively with senior executives and lead cross-functional collaboration
