About the Role:

The Accounting Clerk supports the clerical needs of the entire accounting department. This role involves tasks such as processing mail, handling customer credit applications, and managing accounts payable invoices. The Accounting Clerk also assists with sales tax compliance, inventory monitoring, and other accounting duties as needed. The Accounting Clerk collaborates closely with team members across departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Ultimately, this position contributes to the smooth operation of the company’s financial processes, supporting overall business objectives and compliance requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
    Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of proven experience in bank reconciliation, accounts payable, and invoice processing.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles and job costing in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to learn and apply state sales tax law.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under deadlines.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Epicor.
  • Knowledge of accrual accounting and month-end closing procedures.
  • Prior experience working in a team-oriented accounting department.
  • Certification such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or similar credentials.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Open, sort, and deliver mail.
  • Complete customer credit applications and perform new customer set-up.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy between bank statements and company records.
  • Process invoices promptly and accurately, ensuring proper coding and approval in accordance with company policies.
  • Support accounts payable by verifying, recording, and preparing payments to vendors and suppliers.
  • Monitor credit card receipts for Purchasing and Shipping and enter into the AP system prior to month end.
  • Assist in job costing by tracking and allocating expenses related to manufacturing projects.
  • Maintain and reconcile various accounts, including accruals, to support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve discrepancies and improve accounting processes.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records to support audits and internal reviews.
