Description OverviewPerrigo Nutritionals, located in Georgia, VT, is looking for a Chemist to join their team. This is a 2nd shift position working 4:00 pm – 12:30 am, Tuesday – Saturday. $24 – $29 per hour.
2027 Plant Closure DisclaimerIn March of 2025, Perrigo announced that the current operations at our facility in Milton, VT will be migrated to our plant in Eau Claire, WI at the estimated sunset date of July 2027. Production will continue for approximately the next two years, so we want to make the remaining work experience with us as compelling as possible during that time!
Perrigo is committed to offering a highly competitive severance package for employees who see this project through to completion. At the time of the plant closure, if your tenure length is at least 12 months, you would be entitled to 52 weeks (one year’s worth) of base pay, bonus, and company‑paid COBRA coverage for up to 1 year following your exit.
For employees with less than 12 months’ tenure at the time of plant closure, they will receive 36 weeks (9 months) of base pay, bonus, and COBRA coverage. These severance offerings would be consistent with the terms of the Perrigo Company plc Severance Policy for U.S. Employees. From a new employee’s start date with Perrigo through their role completion, employment with Perrigo will remain full‑time, regular, benefits‑eligible, and at‑will employment classification.
of the Role
- Preparation of analytical standards. Accurately identify, weigh, and dilute stock standard materials for calibration purposes;
- Weighing of samples. Accurately identify and weigh sample materials for processing through analytical methods;
- General sample manipulations, to include: quantitative sample dilution, addition of analytical reagents, processing of samples through incubators, shakers, centrifuges, evaporators, etc.;
- Extraction of sample solutions, to include liquid‑liquid and solid‑phase techniques;
- Quantitative transfer of sample extracts between vessels;
- Instrument configuration and routine operation;
- Preparation of general laboratory reagents (buffers, mobile phases, etc.);
- General cleaning of materials after analysis;
- Performs routine analyses of raw material and finished product samples as assigned, demonstrating proficiency in 5 – 10 separate chromatographic analytical methods (HPLC, GC, ICAP‑AES, FT‑IR).;
- Calculation of analyses. Logging of samples into LIMS;
- Performs rudimentary investigation into analytical methods when OOS results are noted;
- Other duties as assigned (sensory evaluation, team assignments, training, equipment calibration, control charts, audit).
Four‑year college degree in chemistry or related science. Consideration may be given to those who hold 10 years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience. Flexibility, adaptability, and versatility are required.
Preferred Experience- 2–3 years’ experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory is preferred.
- Firm understanding of cGMP and nutritional requirements preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of LIMS and SAP desired.
- Willingness to participate in, contribute to, and lead a high‑performance work team.
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and carry up to 10 lbs. on a regular basis and 20 lbs. on an occasional basis;
- Must be able to push or pull 55 lbs. or more or an equivalent following written safe practice measures;
