District Shift Leader – General Manager Development

Location:

About the Role

Bruegger’s Bagels has been serving authentic New‑York‑style bagels in Vermont for over 35 years. As a District Shift Leader you will be part of a targeted General Manager development plan, gaining the skills and experience to eventually lead a bakery as a General Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Perform management duties at a home location and support other bakeries in the market as needed.
  • Travel to other bakeries for training, cooperation, and independent leadership development.
  • Lead by example, act as a brand ambassador, and provide coaching and training for team members.
  • Ensure high‑quality food and beverages, a safe and clean store environment, and meet operational standards.
  • Manage inventory tracking, vendor orders, and cash management.
  • Analyze P&L, achieve food‑cost and labor targets, schedule shifts, and recruit quality staff.
  • Progress through the GM development plan to prepare for a future General Manager position.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and pass a background check.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including starting as early as 3 am and weekends.
  • Complete the Bagel Brands Serv Safe Certification program by the end of the GM development plan (unless already in possession).
  • Tip eligibility subject to state regulations.

Hourly rate: $14.57 – $21.86 per hour. Starting pay is subject to local and state minimum wage regulations. Pay ranges reflect what the employer reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position.

Physical Demands

Sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently during working hours.
