Base Salary: For the 2026-27 academic year, faculty salaries range from $50,000 to $120,000 annually. Placement within this range is determined by years of experience, in alignment with Milton Academy's faculty salary scale, which is designed to ensure equitable pay progression.
Housing Stipend: Faculty members who reside off-campus will also receive an annual stipend of $13,000 (in 2026-27) in addition to the base salary listed above.

Summary of Position:
Milton Academy is seeking a full-time Upper Elementary Teacher for Grade 3 or 5 in the Lower School starting August 2026. This role includes leading a class of 13-16 students while working in close partnership with a grade-level colleague to support a cohort of 26-32 children.
Teachers are responsible for core instruction in language arts, math, science, and social studies, while students attend specialist-led classes in Music and Performing Arts, Art and Design, Physical Education, Computer Science and Technology, Spanish, and Environmental Science.
We're looking for an educator who is:
- Experienced - with at least 3 years of elementary teaching and curriculum development
- Skilled in literacy instruction, familiar with the science of reading research and pedagogical approaches, and knowledgeable about reading and writing development
- Familiar with TERC Investigations or similar math programs that promote conceptual thinking
- Curious, reflective, and collaborative - eager to work as part of a team to support each child's growth
- Excited to work with this age group in child development
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum
- Design and implement dynamic, age-appropriate, and comprehensive lesson plans across core subject areas (e.g., language arts, math, science, and social studies) that align with the school's curricular goals for grade-level.
- Integrate inquiry-based learning approaches that foster student engagement, curiosity, and critical thinking.
- Collaborate closely with fellow grade partner to plan instruction, align curriculum, and ensure consistency in academic goals, teaching practices, and student expectations across the grade.
- Participate in the life of the school outside the classroom, including faculty meetings, assemblies, assigned lunch, recess, drop-off and pick-up duties, and advising student activities.
- Create a student-centered learning atmosphere that fosters a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation and discussion.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in elementary education, trends, and innovations, and incorporate these into the program.
- Learn about diversity, equity, and inclusion in education; incorporate related principles when designing curriculum, teaching, and engaging with students.
- Collaborate with K-5 colleagues and specialist teachers to create interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and observations.
