Overview
Summer Events Associate
Conference Services hosts thousands of guests on campus over the Summer through academic programs, sports camps, alumni events, retreats, and conferences. Reporting to the Director of Conference Services, the Summer Event Associate acts as a liaison between external program directors and College support staff departments, ensuring spaces used by Summer programs are set up to program specifications and maintained as needed.
The role requires lodging and dining on campus during programs, and offers professional development opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
- 1. Residence Hall Preparations: Prepare all room keys based on the Housing Roster; inspect rooms for cleanliness, damage, and setup; report issues to the Director; participate in residential program move-in/out to provide keys and ensure smooth processes; conduct post-program key inventory; perform post-departure building walkthroughs; access to Residence Hall Master Keys with accountability for their security.
- 2. Facility Setups: Assist Buildings & Grounds or Student Center teams with event setups, including tables, chairs, and athletic field setups as needed; regularly check venues to ensure setup, cleanliness, IT equipment functionality, and accessibility; deliver water jugs to athletic programs as needed; assist with road signage as needed.
- 3. Customer Service & Communication: Respond to the Director of Conference Services during shifts and off-shifts; interact with guests professionally and helpfully; share contact information with Program Directors and Summer Event Associates; meet daily with Program Staff to ensure a positive experience; address feedback and report issues to the Director; handle last-minute requests and coordinate with the Director; respond to maintenance and other issues as they arise.
- Additional Functions: Serve in an on-call capacity as needed; maintain a professional attitude with teammates, College staff, and guests; perform other duties as assigned; respect confidentiality and professional protocols.
- Essential Characteristics: Demonstrated commitment to excellence, initiative, ability to assess needs and deliver professional outcomes, encourage feedback, identify problems and take decisive action.
- Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma; 1-3 years of relevant customer service experience; knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel); availability for the full Summer (May 18 – August 14, including holidays); flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; effective communication with Director and teammates; professional attire.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Curry Residence Life and Housing; experience with Curry Student Center.
- Hourly Rate: $15.00 per hour
