Position SummaryThe Basic X-Ray Machine Operator / Medical Assistant is responsible for performing routine radiographic imaging and providing clinical support to ensure efficient patient flow. This role supports providers, delivers high-quality patient care, and maintains compliance with state regulations and clinic protocols.

- Perform routine diagnostic X‑ray exams in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
- Position patients properly to obtain accurate imaging while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot basic X‑ray equipment.
- Follow all radiation safety protocols, including proper shielding and documentation.
- Ensure image quality and submit images to the PACS/Radiologist for interpretation.
- Maintain radiology logs, quality control records, and equipment maintenance documentation.
- Adhere to ALARA principles (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) for radiation exposure.
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, document medical history, and prepare patients for examination.
- Assist providers with exams, procedures, injections, and point‑of‑care testing.
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection as permitted by clinic policy and state law.
- Administer medications under provider direction.
- Complete charting and documentation in the EMR.
- Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and ensure proper sterilization of instruments.
- Support front‑office operations as needed (scheduling, check‑in, insurance verification).
- Active Basic X‑Ray Machine Operator (BXMO) or state‑equivalent radiography license.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred) or relevant clinical experience.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Knowledge of radiographic positioning, exposure techniques, and radiation safety guidelines.
- Strong patient service, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and assist with patient mobility as needed.
- Ability to move, position, or transfer patients safely.
- Fast‑paced clinical or urgent care setting.
- Exposure to bodily fluids, radiation, and infectious diseases (with proper safety protocols).
- Flexible scheduling may include evenings, weekends, or holidays.
