Welcome to the Team
The warehouse is used to store the right amount of materials, goods and products in the right location to feed the business’s operational and customer demand. This role is ultimately responsible for the ‘internal’ part of the Logistics Centre. The post holder will ensure that the resource is used effectively and efficiently to meet the daily demands of the business in terms of customer orders.
This role is a fixed‑term contract (approx. 12 months).
This ‘hands on’ role is responsible for leading the warehouse team, making sure work is carried out safely and accurately. The role is responsible for keeping inventory records correct, improving processes and efficiencies, reducing costs, and ensuring the site runs smoothly and efficiently. Managing the day‑to‑day operation of the warehouse, ensuring business targets are met. Provide support to the Warehouse Manager in coordinating workload and providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues and implementing corrective actions, whilst fostering a culture of working safely.
The role will deputise for the Warehouse Manager during absence relating to work distribution and prioritisation of the warehouse workload. The role requires an individual who demonstrates strong leadership, can adapt quickly to change, and deals well under pressure whilst maintaining a hands‑on approach, demonstrating a great sense of ownership.
- Assist in running an efficient warehouse operation that fulfils operational and customer demand and meets set targets, including main administrative tasks for the warehouse.
- Leading training and development for the warehouse team.
- Keep all SOPs up to date and followed by the team.
- Produce regular reports and statistics as required.
- Assist in planning future capacity requirements.
- Ensure warehouse team complies with health, safety and environmental regulations and works safely to protect themselves and others.
- Encourage team engagement in safety practices, including raising observations, reporting near misses and contributing to process improvements.
- Maintain a clean and tidy working environment to aid operational efficiency.
- Maintain high standards of security in the warehouse, acting as a call‑out contact for site security where required.
- Schedule regular 1:2:1 meetings with the warehouse team, communicating business priorities, targets and operational requirements.
- Computer skills (All Microsoft Packages):
Excel, Outlook, Word - At least 5 years experience within a compatible industry sector and environment
- At least 2 years of team management experience
- Education to A Level standard – NQF Level 2
- Business understanding & strategic thinking
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Calm approach to problem solving
