Senior MRI Radiographer

The closing date is 26 January 2026. Hours: 37.5 pw, 10 months fixed term, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.

Are you a passionate MRI Radiographer ready to take the next step in your career? This is an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Imaging Department at Milton Keynes University Hospital, where you'll play a key role in shaping and advancing our MRI services within a dynamic and forward‑thinking team.

We're seeking an enthusiastic and motivated radiographer with a strong commitment to delivering outstanding patient care and continually developing professional skills. Working as part of our dedicated multidisciplinary team, you'll gain valuable experience across a broad range of MRI examinations, including neuro, MSK, angiography, and dynamic studies.

Our Imaging Department is equipped with state‑of‑the‑art technology, featuring:

  • Two Siemens 1.5T MRI scanners on‑site
  • One GE 1.5T Voyager MRI scanner at our Community Diagnostic Centre

And with a brand‑new Imaging Scanning Centre set to open in Spring 2026, there's never been a more exciting time to join us.

In this 10‑month fixed‑term role, you'll contribute to providing a high‑quality, patient‑centred diagnostic MRI service while supporting and mentoring students and junior radiographers. You'll also have access to ongoing CPD opportunities and hands‑on experience to further enhance your expertise.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Radiographer, you will be expected to work independently in accordance with departmental Standard Operating procedures and be accountable for your own actions to the Section Head of the MRI Department, escalating any concerns to your manager when necessary.

The Imaging department provides a wide range of services for patients within a variety of settings. Services provided range from simple radiography to complex procedures such as arteriography, CT and MRI or interventional procedures such as the introduction of intra‑arterial therapeutic devices, the implantation of indwelling feeding catheters and pain relief devices where the patient may be sedated or anaesthetised. These procedures may be performed as an outpatient appointment or may involve an in‑patient stay and will require the postholder's highly skilled standards of technique.

The MRI service is a patient‑focused service. Examinations are varied, ranging from Neuro, Pelvic and Abdominal, Musculoskeletal, Breast and Peripherals. The MRI service is provided for a range of patients such as neonates and elderly, inpatients, and outpatients. MRI scan results can be used to help diagnose conditions, plan treatments, and assess how effective previous treatment has been.
