CDC Accreditation Manager

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our team. The postholder will:

  • Lead on the development, implementation and embedding of a BLMK‑wide accreditation process for the CDC services.
  • Oversee expert quality improvement and change management in collaboration with departmental quality leads.
  • Ensure robust management systems are in place and all clinical areas have systems to support monitoring and compliance of standards of practice.
  • Produce a gap analysis and roadmap for accreditation achievement.
  • Work 4 days per week at Milton Keynes and 1 day at Bedford.
  • Use skill standing the UKAS and Regulatory assessment and audit processes.
Main duties of the job
  • Lead on the development, implementation and embedding of a BLMK‑wide accreditation process for the CDC services.
  • Oversee expert quality improvement and change management in collaboration with departmental quality leads for the CDC services.
  • Work with Directors of Operations, Planning, Finance and other stakeholders to ensure timescales are met and service benefits realised.
  • Design and deliver presentations to a wide variety of delegates, up to and including board level, on complex issues.
  • Lead the UKAS and Regulatory assessment and audit processes.
  • Ensure the Quality Management System is implemented and maintained.

As a medium sized general hospital, we provide a full range of general medical and surgical services, including a busy Emergency Department, Maternity and Paediatrics. We are expanding and enhancing our facilities to meet rising demand and improve access to care for all our communities.

In January 2025 we opened our state‑of‑the‑art Radiotherapy Centre, bringing advanced cancer treatment closer to home. Our services also include neonatology, specialist surgical care, and a wide range of diagnostics, supported by the new Community Diagnostic Centre at Whitehouse Health Centre.

Further investment is underway, including the construction of Oak Wards – a new ward block featuring two 24‑bed wards – and the recently approved Women and Children's Centre, set to open by 2030.

Job responsibilities
  • Undertake a gap analysis of the current status of each service to review and plan actions to meet regulatory standards.
  • Co‑ordinate the activities of a programme/project team, ensuring objective and measurable outcomes are agreed.
  • Compile a comprehensive roadmap for achieving accreditation across services, ensuring compliance with time frames.
  • Lead the UKAS and Regulatory assessment and audit processes.
  • Ensure that the Quality Management System is implemented and maintained.
  • Develop a sign‑off for local SOPs and policies and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Produce the Quality Manual for the services to support the accreditation process.
  • Maintain regular quality meetings and communicate complex information about accreditation progress.
  • Work with Clinical Leads, service managers, nursing teams and Quality Leads to implement the quality policy and manual within each modality.
Person Specification Qualifications and knowledge
  • Qualification in Management, Quality Management, Project Management or equivalent.
  • Masters degree in relevant subject or equivalent.
Experience
  • Substantial Acute NHS operational experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Health Service transformation and change.
  • Excellent understanding of NHS strategic aims and national & local developments.
  • Good understanding of the principles and practice of Quality Management.
  • Ability to develop and write policies and procedures (e.g. Standard Operating Procedures).
