Job Overview
As a Police Controller you will help protect our communities by being the first voice they hear when they call for help and assistance. You do not need previous experience – we’ll give you all the training and support to be ready to take that call.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and control police radio transmissions.
- Prioritise multiple live incidents and deploy police resources.
- Ensure public and police officer safety by assessing risk, threat and vulnerability.
- Grade incidents correctly to guarantee the right and timely police response.
- Handle calls ranging from non‑urgent 101 enquiries to distressing 999 emergencies, including dealing with potential abuse from callers.
- Common sense and calm head under pressure.
- High levels of resilience and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Attention to detail and good communication skills.
- Experience of using IT systems.
- Drive and determination to make a difference to the communities we serve.
All successful candidates will complete a 5‑week full‑time course uctured on‑ and off‑the‑job training will be provided through our comprehensive apprenticeship programme. Upon successful completion you will be confirmed in post and receive a nationally recognised Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Service Contact Handling.
