Key Responsibilities Curriculum Development and Delivery- Design and deliver an engaging science curriculum that meets national standards and supports a broad range of abilities.
- Create detailed and engaging lesson plans tailored to the diverse learning needs of students.
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques and resources to make science accessible, enjoyable, and relevant.
- Promote a classroom environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and collaboration.
- Regularly assess student performance through both formative and summative assessments.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to students and develop strategies to support their academic growth.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and achievements.
- Adapt teaching to meet the individual needs, abilities, and learning styles of all students.
- Provide additional support or challenge where necessary to ensure the success of every learner in the classroom.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
- Actively participate in parent-teacher conferences to discuss students' academic development and well-being.
- Keep up to date with the latest developments in science education and innovative teaching practices.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to refine and enhance teaching techniques.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Education, Science, or a related subject (Master's degree desirable).
Experience
Proven experience teaching science at the secondary school level (KS3 & KS4).
Certifications
A valid teaching certification or license in secondary education with a focus on science.
Skills
Strong understanding of curriculum development, teaching strategies, and assessment methods.
Personal Attributes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine passion for student development and teaching.
Clear DBS
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
