Exciting news! We're thrilled to announce a brand-new opportunity for a full-time (40 hours per week) Senior Clinical Education Fellow post. This is fixed term for 18 months in the first instance but can be extended for a further 2 years by mutual agreement. Ideally starting in March 2026 but can be negotiated for the right candidate.

This role is tailor‑made to support undergraduate teaching, offering a unique chance to shape the future of medical education. As the newest member of our team, you'll be leading a team of education fellows as well as teaching medical students in the dynamic hospital environment while also providing mentorship to aspiring doctors. From phase 1 bedside teaching to phase 2 curriculum and assessment activities, you'll cover a wide array of topics, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience.

Main duties of the job

Join us in this dynamic role where you'll be leading a team of education fellows as well as facilitating medical student bedside teaching, assisting with simulation training, planning student activities, and delivering diverse teaching methods to undergraduates. You'll engage with high‑tech simulation equipment and contribute to assessment and evaluation processes. Collaboration with the wider medical education team and pastoral care for students are crucial.

Additionally, involvement in research projects, networking, and attendance at educational events is encouraged. Essential qualifications for this post include a Medicine Degree, GMC registration with a licence to practise, and at least four years post‑registration experience in an acute trust. Knowledge of teaching and programme development is vital, along with proficiency in the 23 GMC practical skills and procedures as well as strong IT ability.

Effective communication and relationship‑building skills are essential. Continuous professional development and engagement in audit and governance activities are expected.

Job responsibilities

The exact job plan will be agreed with the Associate Director of Clinical Studies (UBMS).

Be the senior clinical education fellow, leading a team of education fellows with responsibility for their rotas and teaching programme which you will lead on and develop, with input from the senior clinical leads.
