Position: LAS ST4 in Paediatrics | University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

This is a full‑time fixed‑term position until 2 September 2026, working in our Paediatric and Neonatal units. Part‑time applications will be considered.

MKUH Paediatrics Department is progressive with multiple subspecialties, including Neonatology, Cardiology, Allergy, Oncology, Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, Rheumatology, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Haemoglobinopathies, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology and Eating Disorders.

Our Neonatal Unit is a Level 2 local neonatal unit caring for babies from 27 weeks of gestation and >800g birth weight. We offer short‑term ventilation up to 48 hours, nitric oxide and therapeutic hypothermia while awaiting transfer to a tertiary centre.

Paediatric wards have Level One High Dependency beds and a Level One Paediatric Oncology Shared Clinical Unit. We also provide a Paediatric Day Surgical Unit and a Paediatric Day Care Service.

The successful candidate will join a friendly, forward‑thinking team, providing evidence‑based care for all patients and contributing to teaching, research, audit and appraisal. The role requires participation in the rolling rota, which includes long days and night shifts, and maintaining continuous professional development.

Responsibilities
  • Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.
  • Take part in the full shift rota.
  • Contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, efficient paediatric service across Milton Keynes.
  • Provide evidence‑based care for all patients within their sphere of responsibility.
  • Involvement in research is encouraged.
  • Medical and dental staff employed by the Trust must comply with regional and appropriate hospital health and safety policies.
