We are looking to appoint a locum Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our ambitious and expanding Orthopaedic department. We are growing in terms of number of consultants, activity levels and increasing subspecialisation.
To support this growth, we are looking to appoint a colleague with a specialist interest and potential to lead in the management of periarticular and fragility fractures for our rapidly growing population. Subspecialist expertise to complement the needs of the department will be considered, particularly lower limb.
Informal site visits will be welcomed and offered for candidates who are shortlisted.
Job OutlineThe successful candidate will share responsibility for the delivery of a safe and effective orthopaedic service. Core programmed activities will include theatre sessions, clinics, triaging on a rolling rota, and two outpatient fracture clinic sessions.
Duties and Responsibilities- It is essential that the successful candidate can demonstrate advanced training and experience in orthopaedic surgery.
- The successful candidate will need to work closely with the current Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons and multidisciplinary team within the department, and also with colleagues across the Trust and region.
- Maintain and develop the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.
- To share with colleagues the responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Trauma and Orthopaedic Services and patients.
- Teaching and training of Junior Staff and Medical Students.
- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
- To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).
