Protective Services Development Manager

Job Summary

Location:

Covering Oxford, Beds, Bucks and Peterborough.

Pay: c £60,475 + car allowance + commission + quarterly & annual bonus.

Permanent | Full time | 37.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Drive commercial growth:
    Lead the development of new business opportunities and actively manage existing client portfolios to deliver year‑on‑year profitable growth.
  • Account management:
    Build deep relationships with clients, understand their business objectives, and deliver tailored security solutions that evolve with their needs.
  • P&L ownership:
    Share responsibility for branch financial performance, including revenue, margin, and profitability targets.
  • Innovate and transform:
    Identify opportunities to upsell, cross‑sell, and transform traditional services into intelligent, integrated solutions.
  • Client engagement:
    Conduct regular client reviews, KPI/SLA meetings, and strategic planning sessions to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
  • Market intelligence:
    Monitor competitors, gather local market insights, and use data to inform commercial strategies and service improvements.
  • Collaborative leadership:
    Work closely with operations and commercial teams to ensure seamless service delivery and client retention.
  • Sales strategy execution:
    Design and implement local commercial plans, lead price negotiations, and manage transformation pipelines.
  • Risk‑based evaluation:
    Continuously assess service provision and propose alternative models to enhance efficiency and profitability.
  • Customer experience excellence:
    Champion client‑centricity by identifying solution gaps and driving innovation to meet evolving market needs.
Qualifications
  • Proven track record in a high‑performing, client‑facing sales or account management role.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust quickly through credibility, communication skills, and authenticity.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience in managing margins, forecasting, and business growth strategies.
  • Ability to translate technical service offerings into clear, meaningful business benefits for clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to stakeholders.
  • Client‑centric mindset with a commitment to service excellence and long‑term relationship building.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy pipeline and meet deadlines.
  • Resilient, proactive, and solutions‑focused approach with a positive bounce‑back mindset.
  • Experience working collaboratively across operational and commercial functions.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience within a commercial environment (desirable).
