The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in enterprise data modeling, Databricks architecture, and governance (Unity Catalog) with the ability to partner cross-functionally across engineering, analytics, and business teams.
This is a high-impact role focused on building the next-generation data foundation that will power enterprise analytics, automation, and AI.
Key Responsibilities- Define and design end-to-end data architecture supporting migration from legacy EDW to a modern Databricks Lakehouse.
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models across core business domains (Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, etc.).
- Define standards for Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, and data quality frameworks.
- Architect and operationalize Unity Catalog for enterprise-scale governance, lineage, metadata management, and access control.
- Define catalog, schema, workspace, and permissioning strategies.
- Partner with security and platform teams to align governance with enterprise standards.
- Translate complex legacy operational data into harmonized Lakehouse models.
- Design ingestion strategies using CDC, APIs, streaming, and batch mechanisms.
- Lead rationalization and migration of legacy EDW assets into Databricks.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise master data and governance policies.
- Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to align architecture with business needs.
- Provide architectural guidance, documentation, and standards.
- Support roadmap planning and architecture review processes.
- 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or enterprise data engineering.
- Proven experience designing data models for large, complex organizations.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Databricks Lakehouse architecture
- Unity Catalog (mandatory)
- Deep expertise in conceptual, logical, physical, and dimensional data modeling.
- Experience migrating legacy EDWs (Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, Netezza, etc.) to cloud platforms.
- Strong understanding of enterprise data governance, lineage, metadata, and security frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience integrating ERP and transactional systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday, etc.).
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud ecosystems.
- Exposure to ML/AI workloads on Databricks.
- Experience in semiconductor, manufacturing, or high-tech industries.
