A leading design and production company in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town that focuses on point of sale / exhibition displays is looking for a passionate, hands-on 3D Designer to join their growing creative team. The role is ideal for designers who thrive at the intersection of creativity and practical, real-world production. This is not a “sit quietly behind your screen” type of studio.
The team works closely with the workshop and factory floor, transforming concepts into fully built point-of-sale displays, installations, and exhibition pieces. If you’re someone who enjoys both the conceptual and the hands-on, this opportunity is tailor-made for you.
- Creating 3D concepts and rendering visuals for POS and exhibition displays
- Developing designs that can be translated into practical, physical builds
- Preparing technical drawings, models, and CNC-ready files
- Collaborating closely with both design and production teams
- Getting involved in prototyping, testing, or workshop-based tasks
- (Senior role) Providing design leadership and ensuring project feasibility
- 2- 5+ years experience in 3D design/POS / exhibition / retail display design
- Strong production awareness and ability to lead design direction
- Comfortable guiding junior designers and managing multiple projects
- Eager to grow, learn, and get hands-on in a production environment
- Comfortable in tools such as Sketch Up, Fusion
360, Blender, Keyshot, etc.
- Designers who love the build as much as the sketch
- Individuals who are excited to spend time in the workshop, not just in software
- Problem-solvers with a strong attention to detail
- Communicators who enjoy collaboration and fast-paced creative environments
- Those who understand how things are made — or want to learn
Designer who have a genuine passion for design, a willingness to learn, and the confidence to get involved in every stage of the process. More important than a formal qualification is your attitude, curiosity, and “let’s make this happen” approach.
- This is an environment where creativity is allowed to get its hands dirty.
- You’ll work with real materials, real manufacturing processes, and contribute to real installations that appear in retail and exhibition spaces across the country.
- You won’t just design — you’ll make, build, test, and see your ideas come to life.
